Galco: Summer Comfort

Let me set the scene: A church Lock-in, 20 kids with lots of energy, and a youth leader who carries to keep those under his charge safe. If you have ever been part of a youth lock-in you know just how much running, chasing, playing, and other such activities happen. This is not the time to have a holster that you do not trust. I thought long and hard about the combination of pistol and holster for this event. To some this would seem to be an odd statement, but not in my world.

I decided on the combination of the Taurus model 709 Slim and the Galco Summer Comfort (I use the one for the Glock 26 with this pistol). I have been carrying this combination for about six months now and have been very happy with it. So, off to church I go and with in hour of getting there the energy level of the kids hits full steam, and not once did I worry about my holster not doing it’s job. During the course of the night we played football, played a variation of tag, I was tackled, and other such activities, not to mention drinking a lot of coffee. I stopped once to adjust the holster back into position but not once did the pistol shift in the holster.

Now on to the holster specifics:
The holster is a black leather inside the waist band (IWB) holster made of saddle grade leather. It has two traps with snaps designed to be able to be easily removed with a space to snap the holster around a belt loop. This feature is great to keep the holster from shifting. The loops will accommodate up to a 1 3/4″ belt. The holster has great retention, but the draw is smooth.

If you are considering an IWB Holster for regular carry, I would strongly recommend that you check out this holster. Click here to link to Galco’s page on the Summer Comfort.
