Dear Doug,

Greetings. I have just come across your site and appreciate your support, and defense, of responsible, private gun ownership.

My name is Robert E. Miner and I have been a gun owner for 42 years. I am/have been a hunter, competitive pistol shooter (Conventional, Metallic Silhouette, Bowling Pin and Police Combat). I am a NYS Licensed Permit holder, and former NYS and Fed. Firearms Dealer/Gunsmith. I am a Life/Benefactor Member of the NRA, Life Member of the New York State Rifle & Pistol Association, Life Member of the Police Marksman's Association, inactive NRA Rifle, Pistol, Shotgun & Home Firearm Safety Instructor.
I share that, not to boast, but simply to let you know my background and commitment to responsible, private gun ownership and the hunting & shooting sports, as well as defensive carry.

Regarding Christianity, I was born and raised in a main-line Protestant denomination that is liberal, and never was presented with the gospel in a way that would cause me to seek God or realize my dependence upon Christ. I met the Lord in 1981 with a S&W Model 66, .357 mag, cocked to my head. I had gone through many personal loses and was in deep depression. I thank the Lord for one little old lady who reached out to me with the love of Christ and the Word of God. After 5 months of trying to disprove the Bible, and in that state of deep depression, I had said my 'good-byes', burned the things that I didn't want anyone to find, laid out what they needed to settle my estate, returned to my home and was going to end the heart-ache and the pain that I was feeling. LONG story made short, I ended up with the gun cocked to my head, and then on my knees with both the gun and a Bible, wrestling with God for over 2 hours. In the end, He won, PRAISE THE LORD! While I still have some limited activity with firearms, I have a great burden for others to come to, know, and live with the knowledge of Christ and His power.

All that to say, 'thank you' for taking up the cause, from a Christian perspective.

I would be interested in know how I may be of assistance, in addition to financial aid.

Thank you for receiving my lengthy e-mail.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Bob - 1 Tim. 1:15-17

Rick, good point. I typically carry a small pocket pistol when a larger one is not an option as well.

I agree, it is hard for me to carry in the winter, it's to the point that alot of times I just don't. A shoulder rig works pretty good some of the times, but if I'm working in a customers house, it's hard to do anything with it on, espeacaly if the home owner does'nt like guns. The only thing that I can carry in the winter time comfortably, is a small pocket pistol, which works pretty well. Being a big guy, anything else under winter clothes is bulky and hard to get to.
