About Doug

Doug was raised on Long Island in New York. After graduating from high school he moved to Minnesota for college. He attended Concordia University in St. Paul and while there met his wife. Together they have 2 children. Doug’s long and winding career path has included working as a probation officer which led to working at a jail for about a year. From there he took a job as a business manger for three years working on a corporate law firm. His love for the security field brought him back (working security paid the bills in college) and he went to work for a security company as a corporate level manager overseeing multiple accounts. This job afforded him the opportunity to get into the field of Executive Protection. He spent the better part of three years working with various clients and ensuring their safety. This is where his love of guns was born. In 2003 he was gifted a gun and then later that year purchased a Glock 23. In 2007 he went to work for a gun shop and the gun addiction was born.

Doug recently took his 8 year old daughter shooting for the first time.  Grace and Doug rebuilt an old Westernfield Model 32.  Grace put 7 out of 10 shots into the center of the target and Doug could not have been happier.

Doug is a certified Glock Armorer and an NRA Certified Instructor for both Personal Protection in the Home, and Basic Pistol. He is the Owner of The Christian Gun Owners Association, and a member of the United States Concealed Carry Association, and the NRA.

  1. Robert E. Miner says:

    Dear Doug,

Greetings. I have just come across your site and appreciate your support, and defense, of responsible, private gun ownership.

My name is Robert E. Miner and I have been a gun owner for 42 years. I am/have been a hunter, competitive pistol shooter (Conventional, Metallic Silhouette, Bowling Pin and Police Combat). I am a NYS Licensed Permit holder, and former NYS and Fed. Firearms Dealer/Gunsmith. I am a Life/Benefactor Member of the NRA, Life Member of the New York State Rifle & Pistol Association, Life Member of the Police Marksman’s Association, inactive NRA Rifle, Pistol, Shotgun & Home Firearm Safety Instructor.
I share that, not to boast, but simply to let you know my background and commitment to responsible, private gun ownership and the hunting & shooting sports, as well as defensive carry.

Regarding Christianity, I was born and raised in a main-line Protestant denomination that is liberal, and never was presented with the gospel in a way that would cause me to seek God or realize my dependence upon Christ. I met the Lord in 1981 with a S&W Model 66, .357 mag, cocked to my head. I had gone through many personal loses and was in deep depression. I thank the Lord for one little old lady who reached out to me with the love of Christ and the Word of God. After 5 months of trying to disprove the Bible, and in that state of deep depression, I had said my ‘good-byes’, burned the things that I didn’t want anyone to find, laid out what they needed to settle my estate, returned to my home and was going to end the heart-ache and the pain that I was feeling. LONG story made short, I ended up with the gun cocked to my head, and then on my knees with both the gun and a Bible, wrestling with God for over 2 hours. In the end, He won, PRAISE THE LORD! While I still have some limited activity with firearms, I have a great burden for others to come to, know, and live with the knowledge of Christ and His power.

All that to say, ‘thank you’ for taking up the cause, from a Christian perspective.

I would be interested in know how I may be of assistance, in addition to financial aid.

Thank you for receiving my lengthy e-mail.

    Sincerely yours in Christ,

    Bob – 1 Tim. 1:15-17
